BUSINESS HISTORY
Craiggs is a popular bakery chain specializing in making and selling bakery products in Kuching. It was founded by Tom Craigg as a small bakery in 2005 at Carpenter Street, one of the oldest streets in Kuching. The bakery was taken over by his son, Jerry in 2009 and began to expand rapidly in the past five years. In June 2019, the company opened its 4th store in Saradise, Kuching.
The company’s best-selling product in 2018 is bagel bombs, which are dinner roll-sized stuffed bagels. The company is also well-known for their freshly baked breads and exquisite pastries, cookies and cakes. However, the company has struggled in recent years, and faces stiff competition from retail bakeries and in-store supermarket bakeries.
At the moment, Craiggs is expanding their oldest store in Kuching into an opulent destination for light lunches and afternoon tea. The newly renovated store will offer both dine-in and carry out services. Besides, with the growing popularity of online food delivery services, Jerry desires to offer online ordering and home delivery services to customers within city centre of Kuching.
As the owner, Jerry has been the main driving force behind the growth and expansion of the company. He realizes the importance of an online presence to his business and plans to launch a web portal to promote their products and services to a broader spectrum of customers. However, he does not have sufficient skills nor personnel in his company to achieve this goal professionally.
